Dr. Stone... aw, man! What can I say about this super cool anime? It is definitely something different you can't miss out on. Since episode one, it just grabs your attention and doesn't let go and has you begging for more. The world as we know is turned completely into stone by a strange phenomenon. Almost all living beings (humans are turned to stone, however, there are some exceptions of certain animals that roam the wild) are turned to stone, hence nature has taken over cities and most of civilization. However, genius Senku and his friend Taiju remain alive and conscious under petrification and are able to survive that way for thousands of years. Both teen boys are able to break free from stone due to natural resources dissolving the stone that petrifies the victims. Together both teens begin to rebuild civilization and continue to work on the corrosive solvent to be able to bring back as many people as they can into the new world.
Now can you imagine being thrown into the complete wilderness after thousands of years and find yourself naked? Hmm...Yeah, that's pretty much the scenario for both Senku and Taiju that must move forward as humans and continue to survive the world. However, thanks to Senku's amazing logic, science knowledge, and ability to analyze his surroundings they are able to make the solvent to bring back humans. With it, Taiju plans on reviving his high school sweetheart, Yuzuriha, but as fortune has it they are quickly attacked by a couple of wild lions. Thinking fast, Senku has no choice but to revive a potentially dangerous delinquent by the name of Tsukasa Shishio, by the title of 'The Strongest Primate High Schooler'. Thanks to Tsukasa, the lions are beaten to the pulp and everyone is saved! Horrah, horrah! But was this move victorious or was it a mistake? Tsukasa may have saved both Senku and Taiju from the lions as an act of survival but his actions and thoughts may deem as contrary to his intentions in the new world. Given a second chance at life, Tsukasa believes himself to be the newfounder of the 'pure young-hearted people' that shouldn't have to live by the ways of the old adults. Being traumatized by his experience as a young boy, and being a victim of assault and battery by an old adult, he quickly begins to kill the petrified adults. The turn of events leads both young men to begin a world of Kingdom of Science or Empire of Might. So how will this new world turn out to be?
Who knows, but I can say that Dr. Stone is not like other Shonen anime of its genre. It certainly brings in an interesting plot, comedy, and adventure to the audience. Dr. Stone has certainly gained a lot of popularity lately, and it is definitely a must watch! Anyone looking to watch something outside of the 'typical' Shonen should give this anime series a watch this Summer season.
